I can write well, especially for work related documents. I struggle with personal writing. I often find it hard to get started. I sometimes rely on others to get me started. I want to be able to start without help and write that "shitty first draft." I like getting the idea of getting into a groove and just vomiting all over the page with my words. I edit other's work really well. I'm not as good at editing my own work. I think it has to do with my own biases and narcissism about my writing. Who doesn't think they write well!
Yes, I completely understand your point of view. It can be challenging to write formally or sometimes even creatively. What is your passion concerning writing? Do you find it more difficult to write creatively or formally? Oh, and editing...well that is a whole different situation entirely! But even if we do not edit our papers, we can get someone to do it for us!

I appreciate your statement about how your biases at times limit your writing process. For my own writing, I found that once I was willing enough to display my vulnerability and open my "Pandora's Box" of biases, assumptions, and stereotypes that it was quite liberating. Once done, I found that I was able to let go of some of the perceived control that I held over my writing. This helped me better recognize how shitty some of my first drafts actually are.
