I don't have a solid definition yet - but here's my thoughts: Good Research should answer some questions about the issue being discussed but it should also leave the reader with more questions. Good Research should bring change either to a Reader's perspective or even to how a reader does something in life. Good Research should have a balance of quantitative and qualitative data. Good Research should affect the well-being of a person or people. I don't think good research is black and white. I'm not sure I'm making any sense yet. I want to be able to answer to this question more intelligibly eventually! I don't think I know enough yet to make sense!
Good research in my opinion is subjective. I think our definitions flourish as we alter our motive and passion for the subject we are studying. What is considered good research to one researcher, may be viewed as vastly different to another. I think an optimistic and open-minded approach to research is essential.

Even though you're still working through your idea of good research (I can definitely relate), what you have created is concise and very clear. You have a great jumping off point that shows you really have thought about this question. In some ways, I think our definitions of good research will continue to evolve even after this class has ended. Thanks for sharing your ideas. They will be helpful for many of us as we shape our definitions of good research. Comments are closed.
